For the month of August, we will be reading Audrey Penn's The Kissing Hand.
This story is about Chester, the raccoon, who is nervous about going to school for the first time. To comfort Chester, his Mother kisses his hand so that he will remember that she loves him while he is away!
With this text, the concepts of author, illustrator, and title will be introduced. We'll make personal connections to the text about starting school and feelings relating to the experience.
