Stewartsboro Elementary kindergarteners are the first RCS students to use bicycles provided by the Richard Siegel Grant.

The $10,000 grant provided 25 training bicycles, two teacher bicycles, storage racks, and curriculum for kindergarteners to use during physical education class.

RCS Director of Coordinated School Health Jenna Stitzel said the bikes are a great way for students to practice riding bicycles while filling their physical education time.

“Teaching kindergarten students to ride a bike gives them a way to be active for the rest of their lives,” Stitzel said. “Riding a bike is also a great way to be active with family and friends.”

After use at Stewartsboro, the bicycles and equipment will be moved to another RCS school for use.
