NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

NEW STUDENTS WITH SIBLING ALREADY ENROLLED

If a student is new to RCS (did not attend the previous school year) but has a sibling already attending an RCS school, the parents will enroll using their existing Skyward account. Go under the Skyward Family Access area of Skyward and then the tab for New Student Online Enrollment.

NEW K-12 STUDENTS

Families who are new to RCS (did not attend the previous school year) will need to use the link below for New Student Online Enrollment to create a Skyward account and then complete the enrollment process.

NOTE: If your child has been approved for a choice school zone exemption, for the section that requires proof of residence, parents should upload a screenshot of their approval email or their parent portal that shows they have accepted their seat, or for past years, upload a note so the school can verify the zone exemption is on file.

KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS

The following law took effect for all kindergartners beginning in August 2013.Tennessee Code Annotated, 49-6-3001(b)3: Children entering kindergarten shall be (5) years of age on or before August 15.

Kindergarten registration is now open. To register a Kindergartener, please follow the process detailed above for new students or sibling students. If you are unable to register online, please reach out to your school-of-zone for help.

The student must be 5 years old on 8/15/2025
When registering, you will need the child's birth certificate, vaccination record, and two items for proof of address.
After registration is complete, you will be contacted to set up a date and time for kindergarten screening.

It is important for parents to register their children for kindergarten during pre-registration, if possible, so schools can plan for the number of children to ensure an orderly start to the school year.

Rutherford County Schools utilizes a 5-day phase-in period at the beginning of the school year for kindergarteners. Parents will receive a schedule showing when their child will be in school for the phase-in period before school begins. At the end of the phase-in period, all kindergarten students attend a full day of school every day for the remainder of the school year.
