Motivating Students

Are you having difficulty motivating you child to work at home?  Try breaking work time into 20-30 minute chunks with breaks after each work session.  Use a checklist so that your child knows what learning activities you want them to complete and what will happen next.  A timer is very helpful to let students know when you want them to wrap up an activity.

What is a Resource Teacher?

What does an interventionist do?

A special education interventionist is a specialized educator that focuses on helping children with a variety of difficulties develop the tools they need in order to be successful in school.

INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLANS (IEP)

An Individual Education Plan is a special education term used to define the written document that states the goals, objectives and services for students receiving special education. The IEP team meets at least once each year in order to evaluate a student's progress and plan future support and instruction based on current data. The IEP team is made up of parents, administrators, classroom teacher(s), special education teacher(s) and other staff involved in a particular student's education. Part of a resource teacher's job is to coordinate with the IEP team to set individual and realistic targets for each child. They are also responsible for monitoring, recording and assessing each child's progress on those goals in conjunction with each child's general education teacher.
